Peter Mah has a background in the mining industry and has lived in Perth for the past 12 years. A cyclist from his high school days he continued to ride even when living in small outback mining towns.
The founder of the South Perth Cycle Club, he has shown a proven commitment to the WA cycling community with 8 years of leadership as club President. During this time the South Perth Rouleurs have grown from a starting membership of around 30 riders to more than 450 at the end of 2015. Peter’s influence over the formation of the club has seen it built around the four cornerstones of: safe, organised, inclusive and social.
Peter also holds a position on the board of CycleSport WA providing strategic input and vision into the running of the association of affiliated clubs.
Peter’s vision for cycling is for a government to provide an environment in which all types of cyclists can feel safe when they are on their bikes. Whether this is on dedicated cycling infrastructure or through adequate legislation on the roads, he hopes that we can enact some cultural change so that our kids can grow up feeling safe when they are on their bikes.
