If the Australian Cyclists Party is successful in winning representation for cyclists in Victoria’s Upper House of Parliament then we will be well-positioned to make the government honour their cycling commitments.
An example is the Gipps St steps. The previous two governments – one Liberal, one Labor – have promised to fix the steps. And both have failed to deliver.
Cyclists still have to carry their bikes up 42 very steep steps or leave the Trail and go on-road.
Australian Cyclists Party candidates Richard Bowen and Troy Parsons featured in this story in the Melbourne Age on 30 October.
